This weekend I went to the lake with some friends. It was totally delightful. We spent the afternoon at Rangsdorfer See. I rode my bike from Kreuzberg while everyone else made the smarter decision to take my friend’s car. We had beer, salad, chicken nuggets, two dogs, and a ball to play around with! Someone made a pasta salad1 that was alarmingly delicious.

The bike ride to the lake was okay – I was hoping for more gravel trails through the woods, but I mostly found myself on those annoying brick cycleways that go alongside mildly busy yet narrow roads. Luckily the weather was amazing – not too hot and not too cool – so I wasn’t drenched in sweat when I arrived.

Once a little tipsy, we frolicked with a great deal of gusto in the shallow lake (it reminded me a lot of the FKK beach at Müggelsee), sometimes passing the ball between us, other times playing keepy-aways. One dog dutifully did a few laps; the other stayed adamantly on the shore, barking heartily whenever he say his momma leap for the ball.

Not sure what else to mention; I just wanted to celebrate a lovely afternoon spent with beautiful people!

  1. I usually hate pasta salad. I have these terrible memories of Church potlucks where someone would bring in some ice-cold, overcooked rigatoni smothered in sickly sweet Italian dressing. This was of course complimented by hurried, massive slices of red onions and, dare I say it, diced red bell peppers. I still don’t like raw red peppers.
